Cruising down the Sabie on an inflated tube

The annual Sabie Tube Race will take place at Castle Rock on Saturday under the theme of “Super Hero Illuminated”.

Other entertainment will include artists like Die Horries, Zion Ruts Family and DJ Jaydon, a cash bar and food stalls.

A weekend pass, which includes a camping spot, costs R350. Day visitors can join in the fun for R150.

If you do not have a tube you can buy one at the venue at R160 for a medium-sized or R260 for a larger one. Tubes can be inflated at Supa Quick Sabie’s stall.

York Timbers will provide a free pancake stand at the start, and a halfway water point will also provide some entertainment.

The money raised will be donated to charities in the Sabie area.

Organisers urge the public not to go on the river with glass and to use the refuse bins provided along the way. There will also be recycle bins for the tubes that people don’t want to take home afterwards.
