CIT heist suspects on the loose

Mpumalanga police have launched a massive manhunt for the suspects who robbed a G4S vehicle on Saturday.

The crime happened in the Masoyi area at about 15:50.

According to the Hawks in Mpumalanga, the G4S armoured vehicle was travelling from Dayizenza towards Hazyview when the occupants heard shots fired from behind.

While they tried to get away, passengers in other vehicles started shooting from the front and they were forced to stop.

The suspects disarmed the driver and crew and forced them into a nearby bush. They used explosives to blow open the vehicle and got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

After the suspects fled, members of the community came and collected money left scattered on the scene of the crime. The provincial head of Mpumalanga Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), Maj Gen Zodwa Mokoena strongly condemned these actions by community members.

Mokoena said whoever is found to have tampered with the crime scene will face the might of the law.

Anyone with information should contact DPCI provincial commander of operations, Brig Obed Ngwenya, on 082-565-6417, or Capt Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi on 071-481-3493.
