Parents and schools from Hazyview are encouraged to get involved in this year’s Santa Shoebox Project that started on August 1.
This project, launched in Cape Town in 2006 with 180 shoeboxes, aims to reach one million boxes by 2019.
Participants can select the name of a specific child from the selection list on the website, who might never have received a Christmas gift before.
Each box gets filled with a tube of toothpaste and toothbrush, a bar of soap and a facecloth, casual clothing, educational supplies, sweets and a toy.
It is a fun project for kids to decorate and fill the boxes and helps to make thousands of children happy over Christmas.
The shoeboxes are distributed around South Africa and Namibia.
Drop-off dates are October 5 from 12:00 to 17:00 and October 6 from 09:00 to 14:00.
The nearest drop-off point is at Mataffin Farm near Mbombela.
