Garnett Parkin and Salomon Pienaar of the team Bass Brofishinals were the winners of the October competition in the Nabana Lodge Social Series.
Held at Klipkopje Dam on October 21, they weighed in a bag of 6,85 kilograms.
Second place was taken by newcomer team “Johan & Kobus”. They also won the Berkley Powerbait Big Fish prize, sponsored by Angling and Outdoor, for their fish of 2,05 kilograms.
In third place was team Sikani of Jaco and Nico Jordaan. Team Sikani, however, still holds the record for the biggest bass at 2,81 kilograms and biggest bag of 7,53 kilograms.
Joniel Marks and Matthew Douglas of team Bucket Mouth took fourth place, for which they won a tackle hamper. The last competition in the series will be held at the Injaka Dam on November 18. “We are looking to make it our biggest and best yet,” said organiser, Paul Shepheard. “We are currently looking for sponsorship from anyone who would like to get involved, but we have a few people already confirmed.”
Fifteen teams attended and a total of 47 bass (averaging 3,13 per team) were caught. The total bass weight was 31,46 kilograms, weighing an average of 0,669 kilograms.
